Coding Supervisor
Are you a highly skilled Medical Coding professional experienced in INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT CODING and supervising a team? If so, we want you to join our AccuMed team in Dubai.
What you’ll be leading:
- Leading & supervising a team of Medical Coders, managing their quality & performancestandards as per defined standards & procedures and as per coding guidelines
- You will be responsible for assigning, directing, monitoring and evaluating work of subordinate staff on a regular basis.
- Performs the most difficult coding and abstracting duties in the department
- You will be mentor to guide, train and develop staff within the coding team
Responsibilities
- Supervises and performs a wide range of activities pertaining to the review and coding of inpatient and outpatient medical record information
- Increase the accuracy rate to 98% in the coding area and reduce the rejection rate through various quality measures
- Assigns and sets daily productivity targets for coders specialized in various areas after seeking approval from the Coding Manager.
- Abides by the standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the AHIMA and local regulators
- Continuously evaluates the quality of clinical documentation to identify incomplete or inconsistent document for both IP & OP that impact the code selection, resulting in revenue loss
- Brings any concerns that affects productivity / quality/planning /performance to the attention of Coding Manager
- Randomly audit the coding team & providing corrective measures, as and when required.
- Maintains and updates knowledge of current and required coding certificates as appropriate;
- Participating in selection process, conducting monthly reviews, training subordinate technical and clerical staff ;reviews and make decision regarding leave requests, initiates and implements disciplinary action as and when needed, assists and recommends promotions, recruitment and retention of qualified staff along-with the Coding Manager and as per company’s set policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates and maintains competency in the use of computer applications particularly in coding and abstracting software’s
- Participates in various trainings, conferences, events related to Medical Coding as and when required.
- Provide regular communications to coding team on various HAAD/DHA regulations and/or guidelines with regards to Medical Coding.
- Strong knowledge of adjudication rules across the UAE various regulatory bodies.[MB1]
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments regarding data quality management
- Actively participate and contribute in process improvement initiatives
- Handle special projects assigned by the line management
Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of experience, education and/or training with substantially demonstrating the following knowledge, skills and abilities;
Education, Skills and Experience
- A Medical Science degree in any discipline
- Advanced Certifications in Medical Coding through American Health Information Management Association (Certifications: Certified Professional Coder, AHIMA or AAPC Verifiable Credentials)
- Advanced principle and practices of medical record keeping; advanced medical terminology anatomy, and physiology, as well as the states, sequences, progression and description of diseases as they apply to medical coding and abstracting
- Appropriate methods for auditing and reviewing information for quality control purpose.
- Understanding of the business and professional relationships and ethics involved among hospitals, physicians and patients
- 2-3 in a supervisory role and not less than 5 years overall experience in the Health care related industry (Provider/Payers) in the Medical coding field
- Thorough knowledge of Medical /Health Insurance.
