JOB QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree qualified (Essential) or higher (Desired) in Chemistry or related discipline
Minimum fifteen years of oil industry experience
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, test and validate NIR models based on routine sample data and data provided by NIR instruments. Identify product or streams to be monitored by NIR.
Apply existing and new methodological applications for the NIR spectrometers.
Suggest and implement improvements for Laboratory services provided for supported envelopes in alignment with business strategies and set goals.
Determine the scientific feasibility of the utilization of NIR spectrometry with regard to specific client requests, as well as provide technical support for existing customers of NIR spectrometry.
Conduct periodic visits to operational envelopes and participate in team effort with Operations/Engineering group to identify areas where specialized analysis is needed.
Anticipate and address laboratory or product quality problems, and conduct root-cause analysis and remediation.
Monitor chemo-metric system performance through the utilization of statistical tools, or Six Sigma Methodology, interpret results, and take appropriate corrective action as needed.
Procure required spare parts, chemicals, reference materials and other consumables as necessary.
Work with on line analyzer group to support On Line Analyzers chemo-metric applications.
Follow the company approved procedures and practices related to operations, maintenance and calibration of Chemo-metrics equipment. Adhere and comply with ISO 9001 standard requirements.
Actively participate in seminars, conduct presentations and write technical documents to highlight new and innovative chemo-metrics application.
Network with other technical personnel to keep abreast with relevant areas of chemo-metric technologies and leverage technical solutions
Document, archive chemo-metric related work, and assist in training and coaching mentees on chemo-metric technology.
Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor/manager.
