Position Title: General Superintendent

Project Location: Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Reports To: Construction Manager

Hill International is seeking to employ Construction Supervisor, with heavy construction experience, for one of its on-going projects in Dubai .

Qualifications:

  • Should be qualified Engineer / Architect BSc or higher. The senior discipline should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Engineering functions out of a minimum of 15 years overall experience in Construction fields preferably in the UAE.
  • Previous Theme park and/or resort experience would be an advantage.
  • Must have on site Project experience from initial design through to handover and completion.
  • Ability to think ahead, identify new opportunities and create new and innovative approaches to work related issue.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Must have Excellent English communication both verbally and written.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Supervising Consultant site Inspection team and make sure that each member of the team is aware of the project quality requirements.
  • Make sure that all Supervising Consultant team members have access to an updated copy of the project documents related to the discipline of each member.
  • Make sure that all site activities are properly monitored by the relevant consultant and all quality records are established and maintained.
  • Regular visits to Project site to ensure quality of work is in compliance with contract requirements, good construction practice, only approved materials are used, compliance with shop drawings, and report any deviations to the Supervising Consultant to manage.
  • Make sure that all site inspections are carried out as per the intervention points marked in the approved Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Closely monitor the Project site activities in respect of Quality, Safety and Progress and advise the Construction Manager / Supervising Consultant of findings, areas of concern and corrective action.
  • Participate with Supervising Consultant staff in reviewing the Contract documents for each Construction package and advise of any deficiency.
  • Review and comment on Contractors proposed site organization, key personnel CSV’s and advise Project Manager/ Supervising Consultant.
  • Review and monitor in timely manner, each Contractor proposed construction equipment and manpower histogram and advice of any shortage.
  • Overview and comment on proposed Sub-Contractors, vendors, materials, shop drawings and any other transmittal by Contractor for each Construction Package.
  • Ensure Contractors Compliance with Contract obligations concerning Design changes. Trend Notices etc.
  • Assess change requests as submitted by Contractors and report to Construction Manager.
  • Ensures Supervising Consultant staff involvement in Quality, Safety and Progress aspects.
  • Involvement in Contractors Transmittals addressing Construction methodology. Method Statements, Project Quality Plan, Quality Control Procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, Safety Plan, Schedules and compliance with Project objectives.
  • Advise Construction Manager/ Supervising Consultant on any potential variation to scope of work, which may generate cost or time impact and present Supervising Consultant assessment.
  • Assist Supervising Consultant staff in assessing variations, claims and reports.
  • Advise Construction Manager/ Supervising Consultant of any foreseen slippage of Progress and propose corrective actions
  • Attend weekly progress meetings, weekly technical meetings and any other relevant meetings. Positively participate in agenda preparation, and prepare minutes of meetings when required.
  • Review weekly and monthly reports as presented by Contractors and present to Construction Manager / Supervising Consultant comments of non-compliance, and / or area of concern and corrective actions.
  • Participate with Supervising Consultant in reviewing and implementing pre commissioning and commissioning plans.
  • Participate with Supervising Consultant in final inspection of work and preparation of Punch List.
  • Participate with Supervising Consultant in reviewing and assessing the Close Out Report submitted by Contractor.
  • Overview the As-Built drawings, vendor and equipment warranties, O&M Manuals, Spare Parts and Training Programmes as submitted by Contractor.
  • Make sure that any non-conformity has been reported through a Non Conformance Report (NCR). Ensure all NCRs shall be coordinated through the Supervising Consultant.
