Job Purpose

Designing and developing high quality online curriculum.

Job Scope

The Senior Manager is responsible for working with curriculum experts in co-designing and developing appropriate instructor-led, e-learning, blended and/or solutions in line with the overall World Curriculum course design and team processes. This individual must be effective in establishing and maintaining relationships with internal project teams and external providers to assist with the design and development of relevant and quality online learning solutions.

Key Accountabilities

Leads on the development of the online specifications and contributes to the agreed curriculum design framework.

Provides leadership on effective practices in the development of digital materials for the online world; on creative and effective learning solutions for a variety of delivery platforms (i.e. instructor-led, synchronous and asynchronous learning); and on quality standards for instructional design and development.

Manages project plans and ensures delivery of projects on time with quality and to available resources.

Monitors and reviews on an ongoing basis, activities and strategies to ensure key project milestones and deliverables are addressed; and to identify, manage and communicate project risks.

Liaises and works with an external production team to complete development deliverables using the design framework and consistent with the specifications.

Reviews and quality assures digital materials for accuracy, consistency and quality prior to any consultation and publication.

Liaises and collaborates with internal expert advisors and curriculum developers in the online development process.

Manages contractors and third party suppliers.

Embraces and encourages the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.

Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.

Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Perform other duties as requested by direct reporting line manager.

Key Performance Indicators

High quality engaging online courses are developed.

Project plans and workflows are clearly defined and adhered to; and work is delivered within budget.

Strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships are developed and maintained as appropriate.

Digital production teams and contracted consultants are supervised and managed in the production of high quality work.

Person Specification

1. Sound knowledge of instructional design methodology and the principles of online learning

2. Tertiary Degree in Instructional Design or equivalent

3. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and application tools related to online videos, audio, course development software, video recording, image selection and creation.

4. High degree of autonomy as well as the capacity to work as a productive member of a team

5. High level project management skills and organizational ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines with tight time constraints

6. High level communication and negotiation skills

7. High level analytical and problem solving skills

8. Experience as a Project Manager handling training design and development projects

9. Experience as an Instructional Designer and/or online education design

10. Experience working within a cross-cultural organization and a geographically dispersed team
