Mammootty and Mohanlal, the prides of Mollywood, have been chosen among the 25 Greatest Actors Of Indian Cinema by the Forbes’ magazine. They have titled them as a pick of the most memorable acting performances in 100 years of Indian Cinema. It is indeed a great honour for the Malayalam industry as such to have their two stars been listed among the top 25 greatest actors in India.
Mammootty has been listed for his movie Mathilukal, which has got released in 1989 and Mohnalal has been listed for his movie Bharatham, released in 1991.
According to the Forbes’ Magazine, there were 11 other films with Mammootty in the lead in 1989. There were 36 films for the year. In Mathilukal, Mammootty essayed the role of a prisoner, who is in love with a fellow woman prisoner, who is on the other side of a wall. Directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the film was based on a 1965 autobiographical novel by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.
Mohanlal played a talented singer in the movie Bharatham, who adored his increasingly alcoholic elder brother. His brother was his guru too. As Mohanlal becomes more famous, the elder brother grows jealous of him and later becomes respectful of his talent. However, he dies on a pilgrimage, leaving Mohanlal to take care of the family, especially their younger sister who was about to get married.
Mohanlal excelled in his role in Bharatham. Both the actors won the National Award for Best Actor for their performances in the respective movies for the year. Now, Frobes’ have selected them under the 25 greatest actors in this 100 years of Indian Cinema celebrations. A proud moment indeed!

MAMMOTTY AND MOHANLAL ARE COMING TOGETHER
If you have been waiting for a movie with both Mohanlal and Mammotty together in a new movie after Twenty Twenty, the wait is over. The combination of Mohanlal and Mammootty in a film has been always an assured success. We are not talking about the reports regarding the dream project of Priyadarshan but a Shaji Kailas directorial.
The on camera superstars are all set to do a film with the masters of film making. The buzz is that Mohanlal and Mammootty will do a film directed by hit maker Shaji, which will be jointly scripted by Ranjith and Renji Panicker.

Though there is no official confirmation regarding this, the industry insiders say that Mohanlal has given a positive response and the film makers are now finalising Mammootty for this magnum project.
Mohanlal and Mammootty have acted together in more than 50 films. Their last film together was “Twenty 20″ in 2008, directed by veteran film maker Joshiy. The film was noticed for its star cast, which included almost all artists of the Malayalam industry. This film was produced by Dileep and became one of the biggest hits of the year.
At the beginning of his career, Shaji was known for his comedy films. Later, he went on to do many action films to such an extent that punch dialogues and action sequences became synonyms for Shaji’s films.
With the power of scripting by Renji and Ranjith, the Shaji directorial is definitely a sure shot success.
